Melinda resides in Bowling Green and has two children: Hilary, a University of Louisville graduate and currently in her fourth year of medical school at the University of Kentucky; and Thomas, a Junior at the University of Kentucky. The family attends Broadway United Methodist Church.

Melinda maintains an active commitment to the Bowling Green area through civic and community engagement. First elected in 2011, Hill is a Bowling Green City Commissioner and is in her second term serving as Mayor Pro Tem. She is currently the chairperson for the Sloan Convention Center Board, a member of the Inter-Modal Transportation Authority Board of Directors, the chairperson for the Job Development Incentive Program and a member of the Life’s Better Together Board.

"With the exception of a few years when I was an infant and when I went away to college, I have lived in Bowling Green my entire life. I have raised my two children here and believe it is a great community to live and work. I view my public service as my opportunity to give back to an incredible community that has blessed my life so deeply. I look forward to continuing this work and respectfully ask for your vote."
